Freight Car Brake Pins

Our Freight Car pins are precision manufactured to provide accurate size, maximum strength and long service life, all at an economical price, especially for the freight car market.
We use turned and ground high-grade carbon steel in the manufacturing process.

The head is hot formed, the bearing surface area is inductioned hardened, and the cotter pin hole is drilled and chamfered. Special coatings are applied to some brake pins to better suit our customer needs.

Our selective scanning induction hardening process hardens the bearing surface area to a depth of 1/8 inch for superior wearability. The core, head, and cotter pin areas are refined and ductile for maximum strength and to prevent shearing of the pin.
